IMPORTANT!!
All
training offered/taken for child care training hours
must be approved by The Nevada Registry in order for it to count for Licensing! |
| General Information |
| |
On October
1, 2004, the State of Nevada Bureau of Services for Child Care designated The
Nevada Registry the official site to approve all informal
(non-credit bearing) child care training for the State of Nevada. As a result of this new designation, all requests for child care training
hours must be reviewed and approved by the Registry regardless of which
licensing jurisdiction would have previously been responsible. |

| Purpose of Training Approval System |
| |
The purpose of establishing
a system of approval is to promote quality training opportunities statewide
and to increase the level of consistency within the approval process
across the state. Previously, all informal, non-college training was
approved through one of five different licensing entities. With the establishment
of this new system, all trainers and corresponding informal training
events will be subject to the same approval criteria and will be processed
through the same approval process within the Registry. Because of our
partnership with statewide Licensing agencies, the Registry is now able
to mainstream the existing process of approval by becoming the central
clearinghouse for receiving training requests, approving requests, tracking
approved training and making training information available to the Early
Care and Education workforce on a statewide basis. |

| How Does the Training Approval System Work? |
| |
Trainers and sponsors who are interested in offering training to caregivers for child care training hours must first submit a request for training approval to The Nevada Registry. This can be done following the guidelines outlined on the Registry's training approval request forms. Training approval request forms can be submitted via fax or mail.
Upon receipt of
a training approval request form, the Registry will notify the trainer or sponsor via
email that the request has been received. Requests are then reviewed to determine whether the criteria for approval has been met. Note:
Approval is based on the content of the training only. Criteria for trainers
has not yet been established.
Within
5 business days, the trainer or sponsor will receive a second email confirming approval (or
denial) of the training request along
with a unique approval code*. The email will contain an approval code that is specific to the date of the request. This code must be included on the Certificates of Attendance that are provided to training participants at the conclusion of the training. If this information is omitted from the certificates, caregivers will not get credit for attending and these hours will not be applied toward the annual training requirements of Licensing.
It is at this point that an individual or agency is considered “registered” with the Registry. Note: “Registered” does
not mean the same as "Approved”.
Registered simply means that you have submitted at least one request for training
approval and that you will have the option of using our online approval request
process once it is available. The Registry will begin establishing a pool of “approved” trainers
once the criteria for trainers has been created and implemented.
* The Registry's training approval system is email-driven. For this reason, it is imperative that a current
email address always be on file. Confirmation and approval emails will be sent to
email addresses registered in the trainer's name and will not be sent to a general group/company email address (ex: registry@nevadaregistry.com) |
