T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada
(Teacher Education and Compensation Helps)

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada is part of Nevada's early childhood professional development system. T.E.A.C.H. is designed to address the lack of early childhood specialization, inadequate compensation, high turn-over rate, and the lack of professional recognition for early childhood professionals in Nevada. T.E.A.C.H. provides scholarships for Home Care Providers, Teachers, Teacher Aides, and Center Directors/Owners who work in a licensed early childhood facility at least 19 clock hours a week and would like to pursue a degree or certification in Early Childhood Education. Call (775) 448-5203 or (800) 259-1907 for more information.

Nevada Child Care Apprenticeship Program

The Nevada Child Care Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide a reflective and guided experience for entry-level early childhood teachers working with young children. Our goal is to raise the quality of child care by providing scholarships for college level early childhood classes, stipends, salary increases and on-the-job training. Apprentices in good standing also receive a student membership to the National Association for the Education of Young Children after a year. In order to assist new early childhood teachers with their professional development, all apprentices and mentors are required to become a member of The Nevada Registry.

The Nevada Child Care Apprenticeship Program is a two year program that consists of working with a mentor, accumulating 4000 on the job training hours and completing twenty-one college credits. Upon completion Apprentices will receive their Child Development Specialist Certificate and place at level 3.1 on the Career Ladder. We encourage our program graduates to become mentors for beginning early childhood teachers and to continue their education through the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada Program.
