Qualifications and Benefits
 
APPRENTICES
 

Qualifications

 
  • Entry level person in the field of Early Childhood
  • Have taken three or less of the core Apprenticeship Classes
  • Work in a center or facility that has signed a contract with the Apprenticeship Program
  • Must be 16 years old or attending high school
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent or be working towards it
  • Have signed a written Apprenticeship Agreement
 

Benefits

   
  • Receive free tuition through scholarships for 9 credits per semester at your local community college
  • Receive a $100.00 stipend for each school semester completed with a C or better (fall and spring semester, not summer) for a total of $400.00 over two years
  • Salary Increases based on your center's current wage scale
  • Can apply for free tuition to attend the Association for the Education of Young Children (Nevada AEYC) state conference

MENTORS

  Qualifications
   
  • At least two years of experience in the field of Early Childhood or a related field
  • Have completed 15 credits in Early Childhood Education Classes
  • Mentor in a center or facility that has a contract with the Apprenticeship Program
  Benefits
   
  • Can apply for a scholarship through T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Nevada
  • Receive $100.00 stipend for each apprentice (after the apprentice completes two semesters of class). One mentor may have as many as three apprentices.
  • Share your valuable experience and education with new early childhood professionals
  • Free initial Comprehensive Membership (Nevada AEYC: RAEYC/SNAEYC)
CENTERS
  Qualifications
   
  • Sign a contract with the Apprenticeship Program
  • Agree to raise apprentices' salaries based on the current wage scales
  Benefits
   
  • Receive a $500.00 stipend once a year for being an Apprenticeship Site, for a total of $1,000.00 over two years
  • Receive free education and training for staff participating in the Apprenticeship Program
  • Be recognized as an Apprenticeship Program Site
  • Assistance in obtaining Center Accreditation
